On Saturday February 18th 2017 at 7:00pm, The University of Chicago Middle Eastern Studies Students Association will be hosting its second annual Refugee Benefit Gala in The Cloister Club at the University of Chicago's Ida Noyes Hall. Our event is organized and staffed by student volunteers from the University's Center for Middle Eastern Studies and Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations departments.
All proceeds from ticket sales and event services will go to Refugee One, a local Chicago charity that assists refugees from all over the world with their settlement in Chicago, from giving welcome kits to newly arrived families with basic necessities like appropriate winter clothing and home amenities, to helping families resettle with job placement, school programs for children and English language training as well as a variety of other services with the goal of providing refugees with self-sufficient new lives within Chicago. More information can be found at their website: http://www.refugeeone.org/
With the $15 ticket price, guests of our event can expect:
- food and drink
- music and dance
- a photo booth
- access to our silent auction for local donations
Every dollar that is spent at our event from dollar donations for song requests and pictures, to auction proceeds, to bartender tips will all go to our total donation to the charity.
Donations can also be made through this page by clicking the "buy ticket" button.
Please join us in our cause for an evening of fun in celebration of community, charity and unity. In addition to our ticket sales, guests and non-guests alike are welcome to make their own separate donations to our cause through this event page and at the Gala itself.
While there is no strict dress code, suggested attire is semi formal.
Please remember to bring an ID to validate age in order to consume alcohol along with your ticket.
Thank you very much.
