Merola Goes to the Movies - Free Screening of "A Night at the Opera"
Saturday, January 11, 2014 from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM (PST)
San Francisco, CA
The Merola Opera Program of San Francisco brings great opera and opera related films to you with Merola Goes to the Movies. Each screening not only shows you acclaimed performances, but gives you a chance to talk and learn more about the world of opera.
On Saturday, January 11th at 1 pm, join us for a free screening of 1935's comedy classic A Night at the Opera. What happens when the Marx Brothers go to the opera? A comedy film classic! There are plenty of high-jinxs and high C's as Groucho and the boys enter high society as they try to secure a major Italian singer for the New York Opera Company. This classic features selections from Il Trovatore and Pagliacci.
Before the screening will be a short talk about the making of the film.
Guests are also welcome to enter a free drawing to win Merola Opera Program prizes.
The SF Public Main Branch is easily accessible by MUNI (19, 47, and 49 lines), MUNI Metro and BART (exit at Civic Center Station).
