Featured Speaker: Scott Duncan is a managing director with FMI Capital Advisors, Inc. Scott works closely with construction company owners on financial advisory, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), valuations, and ownership transfer issues. Over the past decade, he has managed more than $1 billion in construction industry M&A transactions and advised numerous companies on the development of internal stock transfer programs.

Scott’s presentation will cover:

  • The current acquisition climate and what it means for your business,
  • Valuation and value drivers that are unique to the industry,
  • Trends and expectations for 2018, and
  • Other M&A-related topics.


The goal of this seminar is to update attendees with respect to the current merger and acquisition (M&A) climate in the construction industry, as well as upcoming M&A trends. This seminar is geared towards clients and accounting professionals, including KSM staff, with an intermediate skill level. There is no pre-requisite or advanced preparation required. The recommended field of study is accounting and management services.

Objectives include:

  • Understand the factors that impact M&A activity
  • Assess the current state of M&A activity in the construction industry
  • Inform about future M&A expectations for the industry

This conference was prepared in accordance with the NASBA Statement on Standards for Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Programs, effective on July 1, 2012. The recommended CPE credits are in accordance with these standards; however, your individual state board is the final authority on the acceptance of programs for CPE credit.

The seminar will qualify for up to 2 hours of CPE credit.
