: Jenni Schaefer Reflects on 10 Years of "Life Without Ed"

DATE: Wednesday, February 12, 2014

TIME: 8-9pm CST/7-8pm MST/6-7pm PST/9-10pm EST

DESCRIPTIONAs described in her first book, Life Without Ed, Jenni Schaefer used to have the nickname "Skinny Jenni." The eating disorder she’d developed a relationship with—aptly referred to as “Ed”—loved the title, but Jenni wasn't so sure. She couldn’t understand why she felt scared, isolated, and exhausted all of the time. Her pursuit to become a songwriter drifted even though she moved to Nashville to follow that dream.

Today, a decade after Life Without Ed was first published, Jenni is recovered. PERIOD! She celebrates both recovery and the ten-year milestone of Life Without Ed with a special anniversary edition, which includes an afterword as well as new sections specifically for males, loved ones, and treatment professionals. When the book was initially published, Jenni had no idea that the written account of her experience to, into and through the recovery process would benefit so many; her words have had a powerful impact on those who suffer and those who love them.

In celebration of this magnificent accomplishment, MentorCONNECT is proud to present “Jenni Schaefer Reflects on 10 Years of Life Without Ed” a FREE Teleconference on Wednesday, February 15 at 8pm CST.  During the hour-long event, Jenni will offer some of the many lessons she has learned over the past decade, including how she was able to separate from her eating disorder, better known as “Ed”.

In addition, to help kick start the 4th Annual MentorCONNECT/NEDA Virtual Walk, which is part of the “I Had No Idea” 2014 NEDAwareness Week (February 23-March 1) celebration, Jenni will be answering your questions live. Ask whatever you may be wondering about recovery and its challenges. Find out how you can better support someone. Jenni hopes to provide the listening audience with a better understanding of eating disorder severity, why the illness is far more than a diet gone wrong, and the hope associated with recovery.

If you feel like Jenni once did (perhaps wondering how you might begin, how to enhance recovery, or what’s needed to stay on track), you won’t want to miss this once in a lifetime event!

BIOChair of the Ambassadors’ Council of the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA), Jenni Schaefer is a singer/songwriter, speaker, and author of Life Without Ed and Goodbye Ed, Hello Me: Recover from Your Eating Disorder and Fall in Love with Life (McGraw-Hill).
