Mentor on the Road USA at T-REX

Morgan Stanley Conference Room

10 AM-12 PM (following One Million Cups!)

August 30, 2017

Continental Breakfast will be served.

Do you want to expand your business internationally? Connect with innovators across the globe? Find highly educated talent from diverse backgrounds?

Try India. Expected to be the most populous country on earth by 2025, the country is brimming with highly educated entrepreneurs and buzzing with opportunities to partner on and grow your business or startup.

Did you know…

  • Educational attainment in India is growing exponentially. Twenty years ago, only about 17 million working-age Indians had a post-secondary degree, roughly the same as in Russia at the time. Today, India has over 60 million people with post-secondary degrees. This is more than the United States, nearly twice as many as Japan, and well over twice as many as Russia.
  • By 2030, it is estimated that India will have about 125 million working-age men and women with college educations—more than any other country on earth.
  • Over the past decade and a half, the U.S. Patent and Trade Office (PTO) awarded India over three times as many patents as would have been predicted on the basis of its income level and educational profile.

With the support of the U.S. Commercial Service and the Government of India, Jagat Shah and his team are stopping in St. Louis as part of a nationwide effort to alert U.S. entrepreneurs to the opportunities available in the Indian market, which is currently comprised of 1.3 billion people. T-REX is thrilled to welcome Jagat and the rest of the Mentor on the Road USA team on August 30th in the Morgan Stanley conference room following One Million Cups at 9 AM.

9:00 AM-10:00 AM: One Million Cups, Networking, and Breakfast

10:00 AM-11:00 AM Startups in India

Jagat will discuss opportunities for startups in India, including introducing new products and services in the Indian market and the international market at large, recruiting talent, finding innovative sources of funding, and navigating cultural issues and opportunities for U.S. startups in India.

11:00 AM-12:00 PM: Women-Owned Businesses and Entrepreneurial Support Organizations in the U.S. and India

The second part of the session will feature a panel and roundtable discussion with Saurabj Bharadwaj, co-founder and president of Aggio; Jennifer Ehlin, founder of Brazen and Prosper; and Ginger Imster, Vice President of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at St. Louis Economic Development Partnership, moderated by Executive Director of T-REX, Patty Hagen. Jagat will also discuss the current state of female entrepreneurship in India.

As an added bonus, there will be an opportunity for attendees to enter a raffle for two round-trip air tickets from the USA to India, which will be selected at a function in New York on September 19th, 2017.
