Event description

The Mental Wellness Gathering Series are FREE events for the community; the purpose is to provide the Los Angeles County American Indian/Alaska Native community and allies with access to culturally inclusive and responsive mental health services, resources, and information.

Our first gathering topic is "Traditional Ways of Healing". This workshop will center and highlight wellness practices of various Native nations. Attendees will learn more about holistic wellness, as it relates to all creation, balance, and overall wellness. Our guest speakers will share their experiences and ways they've incorporatived traditional ways of healing in various parts of their lives, including their home, work, and the larger community. This is especially important because we often find it challenging to access traditional healing practices in an urban environment such as Los Angeles.

This event is 1 of 5 total Mental Wellness Gatherings that will be held in Los Angeles County. The next gathering is scheduled for Saturday, October 12th from 9am-1pm in the City of Alhambra. The topic for the 2nd gathering is "Indigenize Education".
