Event description

The Mental Wellness Gathering Series are FREE events for the community; the purpose is to provide the Los Angeles County American Indian/Alaska Native community and allies with access to culturally inclusive and responsive mental health services, resources, and information.

This gathering topic is "Historical Trauma to Intergenerational Resilience" which will discuss how to best support one another to help heal from historical trauma, as well as celebrate the resilience we have built from our ancestors. The event will include Kylee Jones leading participants in an informative visual presentation about historical trauma and how it has led to intergenerational resilience for AI/AN communities. Kylee plans to engage participants by using an interactive activity that will get the community members active and alert through sparking dialogue. This will be followed by an experiential exercise facilitated by Olivia Biera. Olivia will discuss the patterns of trauma and how to untangle these patterns. Olivia also plans to share ways on how to practice self healing from intergenerational trauma and demonstrate protocols for ending the painful cycle.

This event is #5 of 5 total Mental Wellness Gatherings that have been held in Los Angeles County. We hope you will join us for future events, workshops, and gatherings that are hosted by Indigenous Circle of Wellness.
