Join us for a reading and discussion, featuring Clem Martini, reading from Bitter Medicine: A Graphic Memoir of Mental Illness; Marianne Apostolides, reading from Go/No-Go: A Journey Into the Research and Treatment of Mental Health Disorders; and host Monica Kidd, who brings her experience as a journalist, doctor, and author to the conversation.

CLEM MARTINI is an award-winning playwright, novelist, and screenwriter with over thirty plays, and thirteen books of fiction and nonfiction, including the W.O. Mitchell Award-winning Bitter Medicine: A Graphic Memoir of Mental Illness, The Unravelling, and The Comedian. His most recently premiered plays, Cantata (Rumours of My Crazy, Useless Life) and The Extinction Therapist were published in an anthology that also won the 2024 W.O. Mitchell Book Award. He is a Professor (Emeritus) of the University of Calgary and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada.

MARIANNE APOSTOLIDES is an award-winning author of eight books, four of which have been translated. She's a two-time recipient of the Chalmers Arts Fellowship, and the winner of the K.M. Hunter Award for Literature. Her previous book, I Can't Get You Out of My Mind, was a finalist for the Foreword INDIES Award for Science Fiction. Go/No-Go has been called "required reading for anyone with a stake in mental health care.” Marianne lives in Toronto.

MONICA KIDD is a multidisciplinary writer and a journalist specializing in science and health reporting. She has written eight books of poetry, non-fiction and fiction; The Crane, published by Breakwater Books earlier this year, is her third novel. She lives in Calgary.
