Event description

Description

Mental illnesses like anxiety and depression is something many of us go through as students trying to balance out GPA, Grad school, Med school, extra curricular activities – you name it! Being ambitious should not come with such consequences in our lives and we believe that in the midst of working towards our goals, we must take care of our mental health. Many Professionals who excel in their fields have also gone through what we are going through and would like to share their stories and their journey in their field with us. We hope that this opportunity to meet with Professionals and hearing their stories would help students to become determined and resilient to the waves of anxiety and depression in their journey towards their goals.

This symposium aims to reach out and inform the University of Toronto campus by providing an opportunity to interact with specially invited guest speakers. Guest speakers include motivational researchers and professionals who are currently making an impact in the field of mental health and wellness to come share their expertise and get a chance to meet passionate students who may be faces of future psychologists and mental health activists.

Around 4-5 speakers will be giving their talk at this event on their research, personal, or professional experience to every individual attending. After the speaker's talks, we will then break out into round-tables for more one-on-one questions with each of the speakers. This may involve the speakers sharing their own personal story or how they overcame psychological difficulties and even future directions in the field of mental illness.
