Event Details

  • The 2018 University of Holy Cross Honduras Institute looks to offer its participants a comprehensive history of The Americas from The Pre-Columbian Era, through The Spanish Conquest, Colonization, the Industrial Age, NAFTA, and the current contributing factors to migration and its subsequent consequences.  Economic trade policies, lack of economic opportunity, parental migration in the 90s, child abandonment, subsequent attachment issues, abuse, complex trauma, gangs, drug cartels, narcotrafficking, human trafficking, sexual slavery, parent/child reunification issues, and acculturation/assimilation issues once in The United States will be explored closely.  Participants will be exposed to Honduran experts in the fields of anthropology, history, agricultural engineering, theology, education, medicine, and mental health. The institute lecturers will provide participants with a wealth of information that promises to enrich the participants' understanding of the Hispanic clients that they serve in their communities in the United States.
