Event description

Description

Mental Health Matters is a new monthly series of free community gatherings focused on offering help, hope and healing related to common issues of mental health. Hosted by Hixson United Methodist Church and Come and Reason Ministries, insightful and practical presentations on the human brain, mental illness, and treatment and healing will take place every second Thursday of each month throughout the year (Click here for the full 2018 list with descriptions). Gatherings will include a topical presentation followed by time for networking and connection with dessert and coffee.

Thursday, October 11: The Science of Belief

Do our beliefs matter? Are all beliefs equally healthy? What is more important our DNA and DNA sequences or the thoughts we think and the beliefs we hold? In this seminar we will examine the science of belief and demonstrate how modern quantum understanding provides a scientific basis for the impact belief, including prayer, has on our physical health and can even impact the physical world around us.

Objectives:
1. Define basic Quantum theory
2. Explore the power beliefs have upon physical health
3. Examine the evidence that choice and intention can alter physical reality
5. Identify methods for determining healthy versus unhealthy beliefs
