Mental Health First Aid Training
Event Information
About this Event
In light of the increased challenges to individuals and families in our community and our country due to the pandemic, we are hosting a free online Mental Health First Aid training in January. We would like to invite you to join us!
The Mental Health First Aid class teaches you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. This 6 1⁄2 hour training gives adults the skills they need to reach out and provide initial support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem and help connect them to the appropriate care. An evidence-based program, adopted in over 20 countries, MentalHealth First Aid teaches the five-step ALGEE action plan:
Assess for risk of suicide or harm
Listen nonjudgmentally
Give reassurance and information
Encourage appropriate professional help
Encourage self-help and other support strategies
WHAT IT COVERS:
