Description

This course is open to Metropolitan State University staff, faculty, and students.

Mental Health First Aid is coming to LEC JEC.

The course will be taught from 8 am-5 pm on Wednesday, January 31. There will be a 1 hour lunch break from noon until 1 pm. Lunch will not be provided. The room will be announced shortly.

Mental Health First Aid introduces the risk factors and warning signs of mental illnesses.The course uses role-playing and simulations to demonstrate how to offer initial help in a mental health crisis and connect persons to the appropriate professional, peer, social, and self-help care.

You will learn the five-step action plan, ALGEE:
Assess for risk of suicide or harm
Listen nonjudgmentally
Give reassurance and information
Encourage appropriate professional help
Encourage self-help and other support strategies
