Description

Mental Health First Aid is an 8-hour course that teaches community members how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders; giving the skills needed to reach out and provide initial help and support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem or experiencing a crisis.

In order to participate in this three day Mental Health First Aid instructor certification training, you must:

  1. Complete the application required by the Mental Health First Aid USA program, which you can obtain from, and submit to, Andrea Hood at the Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health email: ajhood@utah.gov. The application must be submitted at least 4 weeks prior to the trianing date.

  2. At least 4 weeks prior to the training date, mail the tranining fee of $1,850.00 per trainee by check to Utah Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health, 195 N 1950 W Salt Lake City Utah 84116.

  3. Be accepted as an instructor candidate by the National Council's Mental Health First Aid USA program after they review your application. If your application is rejected, your training fee will be refunded.

*Individuals who reside in the state of Utah and who receive grant or other funding to sustain the Mental Health First Aid program may be given priority for this training.

*Refunds will be granted if requested up to 30 days prior to training. If refunds are requested less than 30 days prior to the training date, a processing fee of $100 may be subtracted from the total refund.
