Description

To support healthy, growing communities, Atrium Health, formerly Carolinas HealthCare System, offers a free Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) course. An evidence-based, eight-hour course, MHFA teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of suicide, mental illness and substance use disorders. After taking the class, people report that they have a better understanding of mental illness and feel more empowered to help others.

What if I can no longer attend the course?

Please email mhfa@carolinashealthcare.org as soon as possible.

What if I need to step out/leave early?

Full attendance, 8 hours, is required to receive a Mental Health First Aid certificate.

What should I bring on the day of class?

All class materials will be provided. Please bring something to write with, snacks/water bottle and the willingness to engage with the material!

When will I receive my certificate?

A digital copy of your certificate will be emailed to the address provided during class; it can take up to 6 weeks to send. If you need your certificate before then, please let your instructor know or email mhfa@carolinashealthcare.org.

Will lunch be provided?

Yes! Lunch will be provided the day of the training.
