Description

2017 California Champions of Mental Health Charity Awards Dinner and Jazz Concert Featuring International Smooth Jazz Superstar Eric Darius

To celebrate the achievements of California's mental health leadership, we invite you to participate in an elegant evening of recognition of accomplishments in mental health and wellness in the Golden State. Award recipients will have demonstrated success in helping to resolve complex community mental health concerns through advocacy, research, public policy, outreach, clinical work, or direct services.

Rusty Selix, the co-Author of Proposition 63, the California Mental Health Services Act (MHSA), will receive a “Lifetime Achievement Award” for his policy leadership and decades of dedication to California’s mental health movement. Additional awardees include the One Mind Institute for Brain Science & Research, and Karen L. Smith, Director of the California Department of Public Health for her excellence in cultural outreach for the Department’s California Reducing Disparities Project, among other awardees.

The event will highlight these achievements through award and video presentations presented by notable figures. Guest speakers including City of Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg and Dr. John Boyd, CEO for System Mental Health for Sutter Health, will share their appreciation for this work. An hour-long jazz networking reception will precede the dinner event. There will be a silent auction, additional guest speakers, and California State University, Sacramento’s award-winning vocal jazz ensemble, Vox Now, will provide the opening entertainment.

The evening will be capped-off with a dynamic performance by saxophonist, composer, producer, and vocalist Eric Darius, an international smooth jazz superstar who‘s current single, “Breakin’ Thru”, has officially reached #1 on the Mediabase Smooth Jazz Chart.

This incredible performer has six critically acclaimed albums under his belt, a Number One hit single, and Seven Top 10 radio hits on Nielsen’s R&R/Billboard Contemporary Jazz Charts, and has shared the stage with innumerable, world-renown, Grammy Award-winning artists such as Prince, Jamie Foxx, Mary J. Blige, Carlos Santana, Babyface, Wynton Marsalis, and George Benson, among many others.

We thank you for your interest and consideration of supporting our charity awards dinner. Proceeds from the event will support Mental Health California’s training, education, and community outreach programs. We invite you to help create a dynamic opportunity for sharing of a common cause to which we are all connected.

Thank you for your support. Please let us know if you prefer a vegetarian meal. General Admission attendees are seated at tables of ten (10). We look forward to seeing you there!
