Thu, April 13, 2017, 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM BST
Mental Health in the Workplace
Line managers are usually the ones responsible for dealing with mental health in the workforce day to day, but many can lack the knowledge, confidence or experience to manage this alone. This taster session will help to boost understanding and confidence about mental health in the workplace.
Who is it aimed at?
The aim of this course is to create a workplace culture with allows mental health to be spoken about openly. This would enable HR professionals and workplace managers to address mental health as a key component of employee well-being, productivity and engagement.
What is this course about?
At My Life is My Business we believe that mental health should be acknowledged and valued as much as physical health is. The aim of this training is to help everyone in the workplace to have an open conversation about metal health. The overall aim is to reduce the stigma around mental health by changing the workplace culture. This is done by raising awareness on mental health issues, challenging myths and improving overall literacy about mental health.
The course will:
Set out the preferred language to use in relation to mental health
Add to your knowledge of mental health and mental illness
Address attitudes and myths around mental health and mental illness
Increase your confidence to talk openly about mental health and mental health issues in the workplace
Challenge you to think differently about the relevance of mental health to the workplace
Why learn about mental health in the workplace?
Recent research shows that 1 in 6 employees is dealing with a mental health issue such as depression or anxiety
Mental health issues cost the UK £70-100 billion every year
Less than half of employees said they would be able to talk openly with their line manager if they were suffering from stress
1 in 5 people take a day off work due to stress
Mental health issues and mental illness in the workplace are costly both in terms of lower productivity, absenteeism and presenteeism.
The good news is that we can learn to understand and manage mental health in the workplace
We are offering you the opportunity to attend one of our free taster sessions on the 13th April 2017 at either 9am-11am or 11.30-1.30pm. All attendees will receive a certificate of attendance and an opportunity to attend one of our workshops on managing mental health in the workplace.
