Alzheimer’s, healthcare decisions, and Medicare are the often topics associated with aging, but there are other taboos often not discussed among senior citizens – from substance use and co-occurring disorders to the fact that 70-year-old brains are different from 30-year-old brains. This symposium provides timely information from some of Tennessee’s best speakers on topics you need in order to better serve aging babyboomers and senior citizens.

Conference Objectives:

After completing the workshop, attendees will be able to:

  • Discuss the prevalence of behavioral health issues among the aging babyboomer generation.
  • Identify new medications for anxiety, depression, and Alzheimer’s.
  • Describe how the brain of a senior citizen differs from a young adult.
  • Differentiate between types of conservatorship and describe when each is needed.
  • Describe unique aspects of treating older adults for chemical dependency.
