Event description

Description

‘Men of Cornwall’ is a Male Choir of some 85 singers, primarily formed for a weekend tour of Northampton to help raise funds for some local charities.

The choir will be giving three concerts, beginning with a mid-day recital at St Chad’s Cathedral, Birmingham at 13.30 on the 13th October, followed by an evening concert at St Andrew’s Church Rugby at 19.30.

The tour concludes with a Gala Concert in the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Northampton at 19.30 on the 15th October.

The Choir, from East Cornwall, includes representative singers from Burraton, Launceston, Liskerrett, Loveny, Pelynt, Polperro Fishermen, Rame Peninsula and Tintagel Orpheus Male Choirs. Occasionally, the choirs have joined forces in support of a particular charity or disaster, when a Gala Concert is organised, often at very short notice. Recent examples have been raising thousands of pounds for the victims of;- the floods on the Somerset Levels, Boscastle, Polperro and most recently, the devastation at Coverack in West Cornwall.

All the individual choirs are kept busy throughout the year supporting local churches, chapels & many charitable organisations

Many of the choristers were part of a 600 voice choir which travelled to the Royal Albert Hall in London and performed to a sell-out audience and some have been part of the Trelawny Choir which has travelled to Singapore, New Zealand, Eastern Canada and Western Canada.
