Blodgett Urban Gardens is passionate about giving back to our nation’s service members – the few who fight to protect the freedom of this great country. Often times many of these inspiring individuals come home with wounds you can and can’t see, like a missing limb, combat stress, or depression. Because they’ve risked everything for us, we are committed to raising awareness and funds for these wounded service members and their caregivers.
BUG is proud to host Memorial Day in the Garden that's benefiting an organization whose mission is to honor and empower Wounded Warriors. Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) has a big, audacious goal: to foster the most successful, well-adjusted generation of wounded service members in our nation’s history.
The purpose of Memorial Day in the Garden is to honor the men and women of the US Armed Forces who have passed, by inviting military veterans, reservist, and those on active-duty to participate in a flag raising ceremony of 45 U.S. flags on the fence posts at the TSU Urban Farm on the campus of Texas Southern University at 3216 Blodgett Houston, TX 77004. There will also be a BBQ that benefits the Wounded Warriors Project and is free to members of the Armed Forces and two of their family members.
