The Athenæum as we know it today was founded in 1836, but its roots stretch back almost another century. Join the Head of Research & Library Services Stephanie Ovoian to explore the twists and turns of our library’s history and its collection of “usefull and Edifying Books.”

Stephanie Ovoian is the the Head of Research & Library Services at the Providence Athenæum. She received her MLIS from the University of Rhode Island and has completed coursework through the University of Virginia’s Rare Book School. She lives in Providence with her husband and their two cats
