For years, Pejepscot History Center walking tours have offered stories of the past, perspective on the landscape, social time, and exercise to participants. Of the 12 tours this June-September, a whopping 8 are brand new or heavily revised.

Harpswell’s Auburn Colony, led by Wendy Van Damme (PHC members only)

We close the season with a rare treat, a guided walk of the historic Auburn Colony off Harpswell Neck Road with Wendy Van Damme. This 19th century colony, created by multiple families from Auburn, Maine, who wanted a summer escape to call their own, still serves descendants of those families. A fire destroyed many of the original cottages, but a number were rebuilt. The tour includes sites rarely seen by the general public–a communal dining hall and kitchen and recreation areas among them. You will think you’ve traveled back in time!

Please note that this tour begins at at Auburn Colony Drive, Harpswell Neck Road, Harpswell, Maine. Please check-in with tour leader at least 10 minutes prior to tour time.
