Event description

Description

Workshop Descriptor:

If they ever existed, gone are the days when leaders could exercise control over people and ideas. Understood as socially constructed and deeply contextual, leadership is about the exercise of ethical influence in a world of ambiguity and complexity. Contemporary schools require leaders adept in human interaction and in ideas generation, who nurture and draw on the talents and skills of others to create new knowledge and design new solutions. Notions of “generative” leadership are fundamental to Pam’s latest work Action and Reflection Tools for Busy School Leaders. Join Pam to explore ways to reflect on your leadership practice and to reimagine the future of school leadership more broadly.

What the audience will gain as a consequence of attending the workshop (outcomes of the workshop)

Participants will:

  • Understand different conceptions of leadership

  • Develop insights into personal leadership practice

  • Have ways to work with teams and the wider community

  • Understand the nature of innovation

  • Be provided with some tools for use in leadership practice

  • Understand leaders’ intended and unintended impact

  • Develop strategies for challenging situations

  • Develop a working theory of action to guide future practice

Audience: Anyone interested in educational leadership
