Our next MPC event is scheduled for Thursday August 18, 2016 at 12:30 PM @ Young & Jacksons, corner of Flinders Street and Swanston, across from Flinders station (upstairs dining room).
We are pleased to have a presentation on timely and interesting topic – “The New Paradigm in Power and Gas Markets on the east coast of Australia.” The east coast of Australia power and gas markets have entered into a new paradigm led by a culmination of events including the greater impact of small and large scale renewable generation, the developments of the LNG export market, rising demand and behavioural changes and interplay of large scale renewable generation. The domestic gas market has been reaching unprecedented levels for a sustained periods of time while the power market has delivered a shift in pricing levels, and both markets have shifted the mindset of the price risk
Our presenter is Carl Daley. Carl joined the electricity market when the market first deregulated in the mid-1990s and has a range of first-hand experiences assessing and surviving within the volatile power market as the market privatised, then gradually re-consolidated. Carl’s early experienced was focussed on managing the wholesale market risk and dealing with large corporate consumers while being the former trading Manager at Origin Energy and Powercor Australia. In 2014, Carl formed with a few ex-colleagues a new energy consultancy company called SavvyPlus Consulting, and since early this year has re-entered back into the large customer consultancy market by providing a leading edge business intelligence platform for the energy markets, and advising large corporate consumers to move into next generation procurement.
