Melbourne Design Week: The Design is in the Detail
Sat, March 25, 2017, 10:30 AM – 1:30 PM AEDT
This Design Infidelity workshop has been written exclusively for Melbourne Design Week.
Recognising insights and noticing details are two crucial skills for designers when creating design value with people and for people. But we all do it differently — how can we learn to do it better, from each other?
In this intensive workshop, we will investigate who we are as people and as designers; how that impacts our recognition of valuable insights, and how we utilise them to solve design problems.
We will create knowledge and learn from each other as we navigate collaborative discussion and a series of challenging activities, with each participant leaving with artefacts of their own personal design approach.
Best suited for: Designers (of all disciplines and experience levels) who would like to take part in a collaborative workshop. Some knowledge of design processes would be advantageous to the participant’s enjoyment.
The workshop is led by Bonnie Abbott, a strategic designer, writer and educator. This workshop forms part of the Design Infidelity series, an ongoing project that explores what it means for designers to “stop thinking like designers”, and offers alternative methods for achieving deep empathy, measuring value, approaching problems and implementing change.
