Melanin Stories Matter: Black Lives Living
Event Information
About this Event
What is it like to live in an America still plagued by white supremacy? Listen to six Black storytellers share social challenges: a Black Panther’s peaceful perspective, growing up in the southern projects, being surrounded by mostly white classmates, losing a job because an employer learned a new hire was “colored” after they showed up for work, being mistaken for another race, and facing their dad's killer. We’ve improved some race relations since Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s activism, but after what the USA (and world) witnessed in Washington, DC on January 6, 2021, it’s clear we still have a long way to go to move beyond melanin lines.
