Event description

Description

Melanie Edwards is an award-winning singer, songwriter, pianist, violinist and essayist, best known for her hit singles, "What Happened" and “Daniel’s Lane.” Melanie started singing at the age of three and playing piano and violin at nine - she won a talent show for her original composition on violin at 15 years-old and has been a professional composer/singer/songwriter/musician ever since. Melanie brought her career to New York City where her music thrived from 2005-2015. She now resides in Washington, DC where she was recently named DCs #1 singer/songwriter by The Deli Magazine. Melanie is coming off her ninth studio album anchored by hit single “What Happened” (Produced by Louis Schwadron (David Bowie, Elton John, Rufus Wainwright); engineer Bryce Goggin (Pavement, Phish, The Ramones); and assistant engineer Adam Sachs. Mastered by Grammy nominated engineer Joe LaPorta (Imagine Dragons, FooFighters, The Killers). Edwards bears all for her ninth album release with the gut wrenching, post-breakup single, In the same vein as melancholic artists like Damien Rice, Tori Amos, Alanis Morrisette and Adele, the words are poetic, but rich with darkness. “What Happened” gradually builds, blending Sweet, delicate music with sorrowful lyrics to resonate with the heartbroken of the world. Melanie’s vocals are heavy with grief and despair; the heartbreak is deeper than anger.
