About this event
In 2019 Melanated Masterpiece was presented in Fluid Expressions, Inc.’s first annual Black History month event. Featuring local African American artists from the Tampa Bay arts community, the one-night event was filled with poetry, music, theatre, local cuisine, and Black owned business vendors.
Conceived by Artistic Director, India Davison, and Education chair, Willie Hannah, whose vision for the event was inspired by the Swahili word “Umoja” meaning “Unity”.
The theme for the second annual presented by BW Theatre is Unity . Through this event India and Willie aims to galvanize not just black artists of Tampa Bay but the entire community. 2019’s one-night event sold out. Artist and audience feedback encouraged them to expand this one-night event into a mini festival of four-nights in February 2020. This will give each genre its own day of acknowledgement and focus a light on a previously overlooked audience.
