Meeting ALICE: Building Empathy, Inspiring Change

Date: November 13, 2025

Time: 9:00 AM - 1:30 PM

Location: Baxter Community Center

Step into the Story of ALICE

Across West Michigan, thousands of hardworking families are ALICE – Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed. They are our neighbors who do everything “right” yet still struggle to make ends meet.

Join us for an impactful half-day experience that blends film, storytelling, and an interactive poverty education workshop to help us see beyond statistics and walk in ALICE's shoes. Together, we'll build empathy, spark meaningful conversation, and explore real ways to drive lasting change in our community.

Why You Should Attend

  • See the unseen: Begin with a powerful screening of Meeting ALICE, a Mutually Inclusive short documentary that brings systemic poverty into sharp focus.
  • Experience the reality: Take part in Access of West Michigan’s nationally recognized Poverty Simulation—an immersive role-play that challenges assumptions and builds deep empathy.
  • Be part of the solution: Connect with local leaders, nonprofits, and changemakers to explore actions you can take to strengthen our community.
  • Network with purpose: Share stories over lunch, meet fellow community members, and find inspiration in a room full of people committed to equity and opportunity.

Snacks and lunch will be provided.
