Join us in person or online for a conversation with three presumptive new members of the Texas House.
Kyle Biedermann, R-New Braunfels, won the Republican primary in Texas House District 73 in May, beating incumbent Rep. Doug Miller. He is running unopposed in the general election. Biedermann is a Fredricksburg resident and small-business owner.
Gina Hinojosa, D-Austin, won the crowded Democratic primary in Texas House District 49 in March, replacing retiring Rep. Elliott Naishtat. She has no major-party opposition. Previously, she served on the Austin ISD school board and as board president. Hinojosa also serves on the Equal Justice Center Board.
Lina Ortega, D-El Paso, won the Democratic primary in Texas House District 77 in March, replacing retiring Rep. Marisa Márquez. She has no major-party opposition. Previously, she worked as an assistant federal public defender and as an assistant attorney general in the Law Enforcement Division. Ortega has worked in private practice for 30 years at an El Paso law firm.
