About this event

Do you know your meteors from your meteoroids? Where do comets come from? What actually is a shooting star? Join our knowledgable planetarium team to discover all this and more at one of our special object handling sessions.

Get hands on and reach for the stars in one of these interactive sessions with real space materials, and analsyse like an astronaut to uncover their mysterious galactic past as part of Supermassive Space Weekend.

Prebooking is essential, so grab your tickets now!

These sessions are suitable for ages 5+. Children under the age of 5 will not be admitted.

The session is aimed at all ages above 5, tickets must be purchased for all attendees, including adults. Unaccompanied children cannot be admitted.

Please arrive 15 minutes before your time slot. Each session lasts approximately 25 minutes.

The sessions are being held on the first floor of Southend Central Museum. Unfortunately, due to the age of the building there is no lift or step free access.

Do I need to bring a printed ticket?

No, we accept tickets displayed on phones or printed copies.

How long does the session last?

The session lasts for approximately 30 minutes, with time for questions.

What age is it suitable for?

Meet the meteorite sessions are for ages 5+. Please do not bring children younger than 5 to this session, as they will not be admitted. If you would like to bring younger children to the planetarium, we offer our Early Years show as a more suitable alternative.

Are there toilets available?

Yes, there are toilets available on the first floor of Southend Museum.

Is there wheelchair access?

The education room is on the first floor of Southend Museum. Unfortunately, there is no lift or step free access to the first floor.

Once booked, can I change the time or day of the visit or have my ticket refunded?

No, unfortunately we are unable to change the date or time of the visit once booked. To avoid any disappointment, we would ask that before completing the purchase of tickets you are confident in being able to fulfil your booking. Tickets are non-refundable.
