Description

Learn about grants from New York State Council on the Arts on Thursday February 6.

Each year the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) accepts grant proposals in support of arts programming and projects across disciplines. On Thursday February 6, NYFA will host two special NYSCA Grant Information Sessions led by NYSCA Arts Program Director Arian Blanco.

Special Arts Services Info Session: Thursday February 6, from 5:00 - 6:30 PM. The first session is for Special Arts Services (SAS), a funding program that supports arts activities to ensure access for historically underserved communities. SAS supports programs that engage the arts to address the changing needs of New York’s most vulnerable populations, including people in geographically-remote areas with limited cultural offerings; disabled communities; the aging; impoverished and homeless populations; and court, jail, and prison-involved juveniles and adults. SAS funding supports both established and emerging organizations. All applicants must have proof of New York State residency.

Individual Artists Info Session: Thursday February 6, from 7:00 - 8:30 PM. The second information session is for Individual Artists (IND), a funding program that supports composers, choreographers, theatre artists and film and media makers. IND supports the creation of new work by enabling individual artists to successfully realize their visions. Artists at any career stage are welcome to apply.

While this Meet the Funder event will specifically cover the application process for SAS and IND, those applying to other programs are welcome to attend. Many of NYSCA’s funding programs are open to artists, organizations, and groups operating with a fiscal sponsor. Blanco will be joined by NYSCA Program Officers Kavie Barnes and Orin Chait. NYFA Fiscal Sponsorship staff will also be available to answer questions about the application process for sponsored applicants.
