Meet the Distributor: The Cinema Guild
Thursday, December 5 | 6:30-8:00 pm
Based in New York City, The Cinema Guild distributes nearly 500 titles representing a wide variety of independently produced films and videos. Their roster includes documentary and fiction, features and shorts, and they cover all markets, including theatrical, semi-theatrical, television and home video. A good number of their titles have screened at the most prestigious film festivals such as Cannes, Sundance, Berlin, New York and Toronto. Their U.S. titles include award-winning films like The Betrayal by Ellen Kuras, The Interrupters by Steve James, Leviathan by Véréna Paravel and Lucien Castaing-Taylor, and Your Day is My Night by Lynne Sachs. But how do you approach a distributor like The Cinema Guild? What are they looking for and how can you catch their interest in your project? Ryan Krivoshey, Director of Distribution, will be at WMM to talk about their selection process and how they work with the filmmakers whose films they distribute. Don’t miss this session and learn some tips about what you need to keep in mind if you want to approach a distributor like the The Cinema Guild.
