Event description

Description

In the drama of everyday life, comedy, tragedy and farce often travel hand-in-hand. Novelist Marsha Portnoy demonstrates the precept in her latest book, After Tono’s Party, which concerns various mishaps, untruths and consequences in the family of Haskell and Cara Reed. The characters are fictional but they move around in the real, all-American town of Woodstock.

“It was fun re-imagining this place through Haskell and Cara’s eyes,” Portnoy says.

After Tono’s Party, will take center stage at an AUTHOR MEET & BOOK SIGNING on Saturday, December 16 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Read Between The Lynes. Located in Woodstock Square, the bookstore is at 111 East Van Buren Street, Woodstock, IL. For a glimpse into the Portnoy’s novel, click here LOOK INSIDE - After Tono's Party

Admission to the reading and book signing event is free. Not only will After Tono’s Party be available for purchase, but also her earlier novel, Vinnie’s Wife, which is a prequel to the Reed’s family story. Vinnie’s Wife, set in Chicago, was published in 2014. Both books are available on-line, in ebook as well as in hard copy formats, through Portnoy’s website http://www.tailormadepublishinggroup.com/. They are also available through Amazon.com and at Read Between The Lynes bookstore, http://www.readbetweenthelynes.com/.

“I’m a supporter of the #shopsmall, #shoplocal efforts in Woodstock, and greater McHenry County, so having my work available at Read Between The Lynes is especially thrilling for me,” Portnoy states.

An independent author living in Woodstock, Portnoy heads an alliance of writers, poets and lovers of the written word with her business, Tailor-Made Publishing Group. Before venturing into the world of fiction, Portnoy was a features writer with the Chicago Tribune.
