Event description

Description

The Young Adult Novelist Convention (YANovCon) is your exclusive connection to some of today's top authors of books for middle and high school youth (and everyone else who can appreciate these amazing talents). This free half-day celebration will include panel discussions, author hangouts, and book signings with the following YA novelists:

Ellen Hopkins, Lamar Giles, Andrew Smith, Gretchen McNeil, Dashka Slater, Jeff Zentner, Kati Bartkowski, Kristin Clark, Kim Culbertson, Carrie DiRisio, Zetta Elliot, Tim Floreen,Hillary Homzie, Abigail Johnson, Stephanie Kuehn, Heidi Lang, Greg Neri, Robin Roe, Meredith Russo, Tamara Ireland Stone, Jessica Taylor, Laurie Ann Thompson, Na'amen Gobert Tilahun, John Jennings and unexpected guests!

Not only will you get to learn more from your favorite authors about their writing and publishing process, we are also working to highlight the social justice themes these authors incorporate in their work. We’re encouraging you to look for ways you can help make the world a safe space for everyone.

Books will be available to purchase on site thanks to our wonderful partnership with Books Inc.!

Although we don't require an RSVP to attend, we are giving away free books to select attendees who sign up in advance to say "thanks".

We encourage carpooling and using public transit. Carlmont High School is accessible via samTrans.

To encourage literacy and writing for students in 6th-12th grades, YANovCon is also sponsoring a Teen Short Story Contest. Visit your local library for information and enter here.
