Meet Kat Yeh, 3rd annual 2017 Dorothy Carter Writer-In-Residence

Kat will work with Becky Eisenberg and Greg David’s 9/10s classes on creative writing. Kat is the author of, The Truth About Twinkie Pie the winner of Bank Street’s 2015 Mock Newbery Award as well as The Friendship, You’re Lovable to Me and The Magic Brush.

Established in 2015, the Dorothy Carter Writer-in-Residence program invites a prominent author to work with School for Children students to craft their writing each spring. Past Dorothy Carter, Writers-In-Residence include Newbery Honor Winner, Adam Gidwitz and Newbery Medalist, Kwame Alexander.

Dorothy Carter was Bank Street’s first African American faculty member, writer of highly acclaimed children’s books, chair of the Bank Street Writers Lab, and Broadway actress. We lost Dorothy in 2012, but continue to celebrate her contributions to children’s literature through the Writer-in-Residence program.

Carol Carter, daughter of Dorothy Carter will also attend the event.

Wine and cheese will be served.

Kat will autograph copies of her books for sale.
