Meet author Sherman Alexie when he kicks-off Community Reads 2017 on Thursday, April 6 at 7 pm at the BGHS Performing Arts Center (540 W. Poe Rd., BG).
From his delightful new picture book, Thunder Boy Jr illustrated by Yuyi Morales, to his National Book Award-winning and much beloved YA novel Absolutely True Diary of a Part-time Indian, to his collections of short fiction and poetry for adults such as The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fist Fight in Heaven and War Dances, the work of Sherman Alexie provides humorous, provocative, and thoughtful reading for readers of every age. Alexie was named one of Granta's Best Young American Novelists and has been lauded by The Boston Globe as "an important voice in American literature." His works have received numerous awards, including the PEN/Malamud Award for Fiction and the Lila Wallace-Reader's Digest Award, and have been translated into eleven languages.

What time do the doors open? The Performing Arts Center will open at 6 pm, the auditorium doors open at 6:30 pm.
The event is free, should I bring my ticket(s) for it with me to the PAC? Yes, please bring a printed or electronic copy of your ticket(s) to the event.
Is Mr. Alexie's event at the library? No. To best accommodate the anticipated turn out, Mr. Alexie will be appearing at the BGHS Performing Arts Center at 540 W. Poe Rd., Bowling Green.
Is there assigned seating? No. Seating is by general admission.
Will books be available for purchase at the event? Yes. Copies of select titles by Mr. Alexie will be sold by the Friends of the Library. Checks or cash only, please.
