About this Event

Rebecca Makkai is the author of The Great Believers, winner of the 2018 ALA Carnegie Medal for Fiction, LA Times Book Prize, and Stonewall Award, finalist for the Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award. A phenomenal speaker beloved by readers, booksellers, and critics, Rebecca has previously published The Hundred-Year House (winner of the Chicago Writers Association Award), The Borrower, and a short-story collection called Music for Wartime. Ms. Makkai will talk about her research on the AIDS epidemic in 1980s Chicago, friendship and redemption in the face of tragedy and loss, and the craft of writing and editing.

Books will be available for purchase and signing after the author's presentation. A portion of the book sales will go to Friends of the Rocky River Public Library.

3:15 p.m. Doors open and seating begins, there are no assigned seat numbers and the venue will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

4:00 p.m. Doors close and event begins.

Tickets should be purchased through Eventbrite and available for viewing on your mobile device or paper copy at the door.
