Meet and Geek

What? Snacks, drinks, tours, and conversation. Connect with staff, volunteers and other community members to find out what we've been up at Free Geek.

When? Thursday, October 2nd 5:30-7:30pm. Short tours at 6 and 6:30. It's informal, so show up anytime that works for you.

Why? Why not!

We would love for you to join us for another informal gathering at Free Geek where we'll provide snacks and beer/wine (and non-alcoholic drinks), give tours, and chat about all the cool things Free Geek does in addition to tech recycling.

While more and more organizations accept tech for recycling, Free Geek continues to be a leader by putting an emphasis on reuse, community, and education. When touring Free Geek's impressive warehouse, you can see the hundreds of computers that have been diverted from the scrapper and landfill and will go out schools, nonprofits, and individuals within the next few weeks. This is a wonderful thing--building bridges over the local digital divide and working to make our community more rich and equitable all while being mindful of hazardous waste and it's effect on our environment.

We don't hold these events often, and thought of you because you've supported us before or seem like someone who will appreciate this "behind the scenes" experience. You'll be able to see some of the fantastically clever ways staff and volunteers have repurposed old hardware into things of utility and art, get to check out some vintage technology, and maybe learn (or teach us) something new.
