New trail construction on the south side of Monument. This work will focus on clearing the trail corridor of vegetation with a dig option.
About this event
Forest Lakes community is currently in development on the west end of Baptist road, adjacent to the Pike Forest, Mt Herman area. MedWheel and partners are teaming up to create about a mile of new trail with great views and connections to the El Paso county regional trail. In future this trail might connect to the adjacent USFS Mt Herman trail network.
About half of the corridor has been cleared and half remains. We will also have some crews using digging tools to remove stumps from the tread surface.
Coffee and snacks will be provided at 8am at Trails End in Monument. This is meetup point where we will shuttle/carpool to the worksite.
Bring: sturdy boots, long pants, sun protection, rain gear. Recommended to bring a pack also with a water container. Please be prepared for Colorado weather.
