Meditation evening with "Being Mumma"
Tue, May 2, 2017, 7:30 PM – 9:00 PM BST
Being Mumma and Cocoon Family Support are teaming up to host an evening of meditation for parents in aid of Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week (1st-7th May).
Join us for a relaxing and insightful evening of meditation to support your emotional wellbeing whatever stage of parenthood you are at. The event is open to all parents and no meditation experience is needed.
The transition to parenthood is a time of big change and can affect parents in many ways that we are often not expecting or prepared for. Itcan bring up many difficult emotions and feelings at different stages of the journey feeling like a rollercoaster of highs and lows. Meditation can provide us with the tools to ride these waves with greater ease, resilience and calm.
During the evening you will learn how meditation can support you in your daily life as a parent, as well us during difficult times. You will experience a nurturing meditation and a few short mindfulness practices you can incorporate into your everyday routine to help you feel grounded and calm or in moments when you are feeling overwhelmed.
The evening will be facilitated by Selina Shaikh who has been practicing meditation for over 15 years. She is a trained Meditation Teacher and has completed her training in Mindfulness Based Childbirth and Parenting at Oxford Mindfulness Centre. Meditation and Mindfulness supported Selina through her recovery from Postnatal Depression after having her daughter. You can find out more about Selina here: www.beingmumma.com
