Event description

Description

Meditation is spreading around the world, and for good reason. Many people find it helpful in bringing them greater calm, peace and personal sense of meaning. Meditation is more than an individual activity and is part of a long historical tradition. Meditators are witnesses to a way of life.

Dr. Fleischman will describe his own experiences with Vipassana meditation in the tradition of S.N. Goenka, which is taught for free in ten day silent meditation retreats. He will focus on how meditation helps people address many of the acute problems that face us today, such as media intrusion, distortion of historical perspective, and personal isolation.

Dr. Paul Fleischman, M.D. Trained in psychiatry at the Yale university and practiced psychiatry for thirty years. He is the author of Karma and Chaos, Cultivating Inner Peace, Wonder: When and Why The World Appears Radiant and other books.
