Event description

Description

MAV SCHOOLS: We run the award winning MAV Schools programme which has spoken to over 35000 young people in Scottish schools since 2009. This programme is staffed by volunteer clinicians of all sorts who give up their time to visit schools to share their experiences with the pupils. We also visit alternative to school projects and young offenders institutes. We talk about the risks and consequences of violence using our experiences as clinicans to illustrate this, why people get involved in violence and how alcohol in particular contributes to violence. Through discussion of these themes we help the young people to explore ways to stay safe. We try to cover as wide an area of Scotland as we can and we ask clinicians to commit to 2-3 visits annually. We will provide training on this programme to allow you to deliver lessons in schools.

MAV INTERNS: This is a peer education programme where we train the senior school pupils over 5-6 lessons to present lessons to the junior pupils in the school. This programme has been piloted over the past three years in a school in Glasgow with great success. You'll hear from experienced presenters senior school pupils and their deputy head teacher.

We will provide light refreshments and a certificate of attendance.
