While almost half of our population suffers from at least one chronic condition, almost three out of four Americans report that they do not always take their medications as directed. This lack of medication adherence has led to serious health consequences and avoidable costs.
The consequences of not taking medication as directed by doctors or pharmacists can cause additional health problems and even lead to hospitalization. This alarming trend needs to be reversed and healthcare stakeholders have an important role to play.
During this informative luncheon, guests will learn about the importance of medication adherence, policy changes impacting adherence, side effects and tips for remembering to take medications as prescribed. We hope to raise awareness and encourage health care professionals to communicate the importance of medication adherence to their patients.
