  • Professional Practice:  This webinar will review the professional practice roles of the medical surgical nurse covered on the certification exam.
  • The Neurological System:  This webinar will review the anatomy, physiology of the neurological system as well as common neurological disorders and the appropriate nursing management most likely seen on the certification exam. Case studies will be included.
  • The Cardiovascular System:  This webinar will discuss the cardiovascular system and pathophysiology of specific CV disorders that may be seen on the certification exam. Case studies and nursing management will be included.
  • Fluids and Electrolytes/The Genitourinary System: This webinar will review fluid and electrolyte requirements and issues regarding imbalances most likely seen on the certification exam. It will also discuss the genitourinary system and common disorders. Nursing management strategies and case studies will be included.
  • The Skin and Musculoskeletal Systems:  This webinar will discuss the anatomy, physiology and common disorders of both the integumentary and musculoskeletal systems. Nursing management will also be discusses. Case studies will be included.

Nurses interested in obtaining Medical Surgical Nursing certification and nurses new to medical surgical nursing who would like to increase their knowledge.

 

  GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:

The goal of the Medical Surgical Nursing Certification Review Intensive CE Series is to provide nurses with the knowledge about medical surgical nursing and provide a review for those sitting for the national exam. Upon completion of this series, attendees will be able to do the following:

  • Name common issues within medical surgical care and nursing implications.
  • Discuss anatomy physiology and abnormalities within each body system.
  • Discuss ethical principles of medical surgical nursing.
  • Compare and contrast the etiology, pathophysiology, clinical presentation and treatment for common med/surg conditions.
  • List study tips that increase exam preparedness.

 

  COST AND REGISTRATION DEADLINES:


Cost of the 7-week program:
$399
(discounted group rate of 3 or more: $370)

Early Bird Rate: $375 (available until June 16, 2014)

DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION: June 30, 2014


 

  CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY:

Phone cancellations must be confirmed in writing. Cancellations received four weeks prior to the start date of the series will receive a full refund of the registration fee. Cancellations received after four weeks and up to seven days prior to the start of the series will be assessed a $50 processing fee. Cancellations received seven days prior or “no shows” will not receive a refund. In the event that the program is cancelled, a full refund will be issued.

John Allen Menez, RN-BC, MSN, CMSRN - A current full-time faculty member at University of St. Catherine in St. Paul, MN, and part-time faculty member of University of Phoenix, both online and in the Minneapolis/St. Paul Campus, John's clinical experience includes long-term care, perioperative nursing, mental health nursing and medical-surgical nursing. He is a contributing author and content reviewer for two Medical-Surgical Nursing Certification review books and one Pain Management Nursing Certification review book. He has presided as Vice-president for the International Nursing Services for WR Stone International Services, and as Nursing Instructor for Kaplan Educational Centers in the Philippines. John conducts lecture series for NCLEX-RN/PN and CGFNS Test preparation classes. He teaches Physiological Nursing content and exam review for D&D Nursing Educators Inc. John is among the first batch of Certified Pain Management Nurses (RN-BC) here in the US, and is certified as a Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (CMSRN).


Donna Elmore, RN- BC, MS, CCRN, CMSRN, CNRN - Ms. Elmore has over 35 years of nursing clinical experience coupled with significant experience in nursing education. She has been certified in or been an instructor in the following nursing certification and specialty areas: Medical-Surgical, Critical Care, Trauma, Neuroscience, Staff Development, ACLS, PALS, 12 Lead ECG and Rhythm Strip Interpretation, Cardiovascular, Pain Management, Orthopedics, and IV therapy. Ms. Elmore also has extensive live lecture teaching experience.
