Course Description: Learn how to maximize financial benefits for your practice and patients by utilizing medical insurance benefits. This workshop focuses on a practical system for medical billing based on realistic techniques used daily by CODE. The workshop will feature limited attendance, participation by attendees and hands-on billing exercises on Kareo medical billing software. We will be covering a wide variety of procedures in the dental and dental specialty offices from exams to cone beam to occlusal orthotics and soft/hard tissue grafts. Our course is designed to empower general and specialty dental offices to submit medical claims on behalf of their patients.
The following topics will be discussed:
- ICD9 and ICD10
- CDT to CPT cross coding
- Understanding the CMS 1500 form
- Using Kareo medical billing software for immediate billing solutions and results. We will do real cases together!
- Eligibility checks and preauths
- SOAP note construction
- Follow ups

Hootan Shahidi is the Founder and President of Cross Over Dental Enterprises (C.O.D.E.). CODE is a full-service medical billing company for dentists with clients in more than 40 states.
