Description

This event, co-hosted by the Nebraska Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (NE AAP) and the Nebraska Regional Council of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (ROCAP), is open to all pediatric healthcare providers. This interactive session with provide an in-depth look at the assessment, evaluation and treatment of pediatric sleep behaviors and disorders from both a medical and behavioral health perspective through presented information interspersed with interactive, interdisciplinary group discussions of relevant case studies.

PRESENTERS:

Brett Kuhn, Ph.D., C.BSM - a licensed psychologist and Professor of Pediatrics and Psychology at the Munroe-Meyer Institute for Genetics & Rehabilitation and University of Nebraska Medical Center. Dr. Kuhn is certified in behavioral sleep medicine (C.BSM) by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). He served on the AASM sponsored committee to create the national standards of practice for children with bedtime resistance and night time awakenings. He currently directs the behavioral sleep medicine clinic at the Children’s Sleep Disorders Center in Omaha.

Casey Burg, MD - is an Associate Professor of Pediatric Pulmonology at University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Medicine, where he is also assistant director of the UNMC Sleep Medicine Fellowship program. Dr. Burg also serves as the interim division chief of Children's Hospital and Medical Center's department of Pediatric Pulmonology, Allergy and Sleep Medicine and is a member of the Neuromuscular Multidisciplinary clinic.
