About this event
In this workshop, you will learn from MediaFutures' like-minded researchers in five work packages how new media technologies for media user engagement, media content production, media content interaction and accessibility, and audience understanding are developed and advanced to the next level. No matter if you are a journalist, a media practitioner, a developer, a researcher, or a curious individual, this will open a new horizon before you on responsible media technology and innovation.

Speakers' bio:
Christoph Trattner is a Full Professor at the University of Bergen and the Founder and the Center Director of the Research Centre for Responsible Media Technology & Innovation. Since 2009, he published over 100 scientific articles in top venues and has acquired over 54 million Euros in funding on European and (inter) national level - 30 million as the PI. Examples of outlets where Christoph's work has been published include NATURE Sustainability, JASIST, EPJ Data Science, UMUAI, WWW, AAAI ICWSM or ACM SIGIR. Since June 2021, he is an appointed ACM Distinguished Speaker.
Mehdi Elahi is an Associate Professor at the University of Bergen (UiB) and WP2 Leader at MediaFutures center. The research in WP2 is primarily focused on user modeling, personalization & engagement. He has obtained his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and published more than 80 peer-reviewed journal and conference publications. His current #citation is 2400+ and his H-index is 23. He has organized several international data challenges in collaboration with different international companies (e.g., Spotify) and received research credits from tech industry leaders (e.g., Amazon).
Jonathan Geffen is a PhD research fellow in WP4-Media Content Interaction & Accessibility at MediaFutures. He holds a Master’s degree from KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Interactive Media Technology. Prior to joining MediaFutures, Jonathan worked as a researcher and software engineer for Microsoft and several startup companies. His research interests include Intergenerational Play, Accessibility, Education and Game Design.
Ana Milojevic is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Bergen, Department of Information Science and Media Studies. She runs the project Datafication, Media and Democracy: Transformation of news work in datafied society – DataMeDe, which has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement No 895273 and which is affiliated with the MediaFutures.
Sohail Ahmed Khan is a PhD candidate at MediaFutures and University of Bergen. He holds an MSc in Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence from the University of Sheffield, UK. Prior to joining MediaFutures, Sohail worked as a research assistant at Mohamed bin Zayed University of AI, Abu Dhabi, UAE. His research interests intersect deep learning, computer vision and multimedia forensics.
Huiling You is a PhD student at the University of Oslo and MediaFutures’ WP5 on Norwegian Language Technology. Her main research interest lies in Natural Language Processing (NLP). Her PhD project focuses on event extraction from text, where the task is approached as a graph parsing problem.
