Event description
Media and Mental Health: Understanding the Impact

About this Event

Join us for networking & light breakfast from 8:30am-9:00am

CEU will start at 9am.

We will be taking a look at how media has hard wired us to respond and think. We will sift through the mix messages around trauma, sexuality and gender put out by mass media and gain a greater understanding of the impact on our mental health.

This presentation with be fun, interactive and informative!

More about CEU:

The culture that we have been raised in and the messages we have received thru media has shaped some of our behaviors and attitude towards self and others. We have been misled as to what are healthy boundaries , appropriate relationship behaviors and codependency. The media has attempted to shape or attitudes towards domestic violence, gender ,sexuality , mental health addictions for over 50 years. We will travel back in time to look at the meta messages and long history of the media shaming and skewing perceptions over these important issues.

The goals is to build a more compassionate and supportive view of the complexities we face daily and the importance of the role social media including television radio and internet has played in our lives.
