Media Archaeology Lab Virtual Tour!
Event Information
About this Event
Join us! Thursday January 21, 2021 at 5pm MST for a livestream tour of the Media Archaeology Lab!
Founded in 2009 by Dr. Lori Emerson, the Media Archaeology Lab (MAL) is a place for hands-on experiments and play using one of the largest collections in the world of still functioning media. Any member of the public is normally encouraged to turn on, open up, play and create with items from the collection from the 19th century to the present. In light of the circumstances, we will demonstrate some pieces of our collection and give you a look at the lab as a whole. The MAL is utterly unique not only because it is an open, accessible space for anyone to come and perform hands-on experiments with its extensive collection but also because it demonstrates alternative paths in the history of technology and empowers visitors to imagine an alternative present and future.
Tickets are pay-what-you-can. If you donate $50 or more, we will send you a personalized thank you note and hologram MAL stickers with our new logo, designed by Channel Studio. Your donation will go toward the ongoing maintenance of our treasured lab!
This tour will take place via Zoom, and details for the tour will be added here 5 days prior to the event.
